Love the title!  Also love some of the images (hands full of candy, heart full of pride). Good stuff.

I don’t know if you’re hoping for an outside cut on this song (if not, please ignore the following thoughts)... but a couple lines will decrease that chance.  The 2nd verse about how your wife came from another country and you fell in love in ‘93.  There’s nothing wrong with those lines (I get the feeling they’re true statements for you).  However, they’re so specific that they may keep an artist from recording it.  Since it’s sung from the 1st person perspective, they may not feel comfortable saying something like that is their story when it probably isn’t.  Artists know many fans assume they write their own songs and their songs are true stories.  Therefore, it could confuse some fans.

Silly, I know.  But it happens.  Again, those lines are perfectly fine if you’re writing for yourself.  But if you want cuts, those lines may be an obstacle.

Overall, nice work!  Thanks for sharing!

Great song Carlos!

I felt a sense of pride within myself as I was listening to your song. I really love the chorus and how you used that great original title to hook me. Very universal.  Thanks for sharing a wonderful song.

Hey Frettie Members!

I’m looking to re-demo this song. Following are the revised lyrics. Before I spend money in the studio re-demoing this, please let me know what you think of the slightly revised lyrics and any comments on the music, melody or track are welcome too.

Wish I would have gotten more input from others before sending to the studio for the first version.

But alas…thanks for your input!

Everything American

Words and Music by Carlos Tabora and Gina M. Paoni

I was born at 6AM to a lovely lady and a hopeful man
I grew up in this promised land
A privilege they taught me to understand
And when bands marched by on the Fourth of July
We’d salute that flag with a gleam in our eyes
Hands full of candy, heart full of pride
The world belonged to me
And everything I hoped for as I became a man
was Everything American

CHORUS
Everything American
I am strong, I belong to this great land
Everything American
Cause it’s more than a flag that makes her grand
I can live my life, chase my dreams
Find me a wife and make a family
Do anything, I believe I can
And be Everything American

Now I’m grown and on my own
Got the girl of my dreams and a place to call home
We fell in love way back in ‘03
When I served in the Corp and got my degree
And our children can live in peace
Don’t need to hide in fear
We’re free to speak what we believe
A freedom we hold dear
We cast our vote with passion
We work and dream and plan
We’re Everything American

CHORUS
Everything American
We are strong, we belong to this great land
Everything American
Cause it’s more than a flag that makes her grand
We’ll live our lives and chase our dreams
Show the whole world what America means
We’ll wear it proud like our Uncle Sam
For Everything American

(Instrument solo)

And I’d give my life to keep her free
Show the whole world what America means
And I’ll stand proud because I give a damn
For Everything American
