A novelty song about being careful what you ask for.

This is a little heavier than what I usually write, but lately I've been feeling the nervous about the current state of the world: conflict in the Middle East, extremism on the rise, politics is more divisive than ever and the American ideal seems to be vanishing.

First, it wasn't cool to be fat. Then fat people started saying "screw you, I like myself." I like that spirit.

I'm finally comfortable with the idea of someone using one of my songs for commercial gain. I wasn't always this way. Once, mixing music and art was frowned upon. But now the "man" is my fan. Heck, maybe I am the man.

Inspired by Natalie Maines, the former lead singer of the Dixie Chicks who de-railed their career when she spoke out against the Gulf War and suffered the wrath of the country music community.

I wrote this early on, when I was writing a lot of music but didn't yet have the nerve to perform in front of a bunch of strangers.

A salute to hard-working people who don't make headlines or star in reality tv shows, but deserve some recognition nontheless.
