Just remembering Janis Joplin - I tried to write something similar to her style.
No female available in the studio so the song was demoed by an available male singer.

Once had a beautiful girlfriend who when she entered the room she took all the attention. Had an electric smile. People constantly trying to get her number. They needed to "chill" she was my lady

When we think of our childhood, our teen years, our twenties, heck, our here and now...you never let go of that idea of wanting to freeze summer. We all want to hold on to that feeling.

This song is off my 3rd album , Mended Fences. I wrote it at 5 in the morning waiting for a crane to show up to my job site (have always carried a guitar in my trucks for writing).
It's about a hard working no so educated man sharing his hard won wisdom with others!

This is a kind of western swing I wrote for my 3rd album Mended Fences. A definite departure from what I was doing though there's a story there and that's my favorite part of song writing. It did well in Europe where there a bit more open minded about other forms of country. Of course now it would be called Americana.
