This is a story about a woman who is regretfully planning to end a relationship. The music is in 5/4 and we think it might fit best as a synch placement. This song was a collaboration between myself, Mauro Clerici and Darlene Pappalardo. Thanks for listening!
Any feedback appreciated!
Nice production and vocal. I’m not sure the interlude (Ooh parts?) add anything for me but I like the vocal in general.
Nice job!

Thank Laurie! You know I thought the same thing regarding the “like-minded” song taste. Thank you for having the grace to stop by and take a listen. I look forward to hearing more of your songs!

Hi Chad, we are still fine tuning and I have to agree with you regarding the “Ooh parts.” Thank goodness that’s an easy fix. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and give your feedback.

Oh I like this! I like the melody changing in the middle of the song. Your voice is so powerful. Matches the intensity of the song lyrics. Great job!

Hi Dori thank you for charing this unique song. I like the special vibe, in invites me to lay back and concentrate on the music. Nice singing and guitar arrangement, great job, reminds me a bit to the late David Crosby. I’m sure there is an audience for this beautiful music. Let us know when we can stream/download/buy it somewhere.

So when are you going to post some more of your songs, so we can listen to them, and “revel in your luxurious musical presence?”
[It’s not everybody that gets the distinct pleasure of a “Bob Abner over-adjectivized phrase!”

OK, all of my goofiness out of the way, I WOULD like to hear more of your music! HONESTLY!!!

So very nice of you to comment again Bob. I appreciate your words and encouragement. Right now I am diligently redoing many of my songs as I have new gear so you know what THAT means…..being a hermit, hunkering down and doin’ the work:) Love your music….tasteful and elegant:)
P.S. I noticed that you write Christian music too…have you ever attended WAJ or Gaither Intensive?

Not familiar with WAJ or Gaither Intensive—have attended several NQCs (National Quartet Conventions, which used to be held every year here in Louisville)—I am curious about WAJ and Gaither Intensive—a good friend of mine (J D Miller) used to be Bill Gaither’s pianist and musical director for 13 years, and there’s ALWAYS some outstanding singers/instrumentalists around Bill Gaither—I LOVE Gordon Mote—I just think he’s GREAT!!! I’ll try to do some digging around about the two things you mentioned. You seem to like some of my music, and I really enjoyed listening to this song—this reminds me of a joke—It’s the end of the gig, and two trumpet players are chatting. One says to the other, “Man, you sounded GREAT tonight; your solos were too fine, your sound was great—just TOO FINE”—then he waits a couple of seconds, and then says, “OK, it’s YOUR turn!!!”
fwiw, I like this song better and better the more I hear it! I am curious how you and your co-writers decided to do a song in 5/4

I ALSO do like the fact that you have a really nice voice—really STRONG (I always thought a STRONG voice was about the hardest thing to develop in a singer)—I DO LIKE LISTENING TO YOU SING!!!

Wow, I love this song and the marriage of lyrics/message and music are powerful! It sounds like your character is trying to convince herself in the lines of the chorus, which is a very cool poignant emotion/situation many of us can relate to, if we’ve been in that type of relationship.
Did you play the guitar parts and are you singing the vocals?
Awesome song Dori!

Bob and Reid,
Thanks for listening. Yes I’m singing and Mauro (one of the co-writers) is playing the guitar. The lyrics still need work and further clarification…. someday. Thanks again to you both for your encouraging words and for stopping by.

Dori,
Love your voice and the feel of this song.
Here’s what I hear:
First, it’s unclear whether singer and singer are face-to-face or whether they are apart. Once you settle on that, you can adjust the lyric accordingly.
Second, your hook is a bit confusing.
First appearance says “Today for sure, gonna change my ways….”
Second appearance says “Today for sure, I’ll
make up my mind…”
Third appearance says ” we’ll settle the score…Today for sure.”
It might work better if you craft one hook that summarizes what you want to say. And that can be repeated so it worms its way into mind of the listener.
Thus, the verses could give the particulars of the situation or relationship that, in turn, serves as a setup for your title/hook. In effect, And that’s why I say TODAY FOR SURE…
Keep going. Great start.

Hi Lee,
Thank you for the feedback regarding the lyrics. I was asked to provide vocals and write a melody for this tune but I will most certainly share your pertinent feedback with Darlene, the lyricist. Thanks again, much appreciated!

There has come to choose
Do I go away or stay and fight, afraid to lose
Is there a better way oh there has to be
Give up all I have to make you come to me

If I knew for sure
I'd know just what to do
I'd get on a plane
Come runnin' back to you

Today for sure, goin' to change my ways
Make a better plan, today for sure

If you were a better man I wouldn't have to choose
We could find a way so neither one of us would lose
Will you give in, will I let you go
The answer to that, I still don't know, I still don't know
PC:
If I knew for sure

I'd get on a plane
Come runnin' back to you

Today for sure I'll make up my mind
Today for sure, it's the truth I'll find
