The idea of the song came to me when I heard that a little girl I know had been diagnosed with leukemia (she's well today). I started to think about how she felt, alone, sad and vulnerable at the hospital, a long way from home. But for me, the hospital theme was a dead-end so I decided to change it to being locked away while keeping the overall theme. Don't know if I succeeded or not. All input is welcome!
Note: A few people already commented on using "the can", saying it's a term with a rather archaic ring to it. So I'll probably change that.

When I was younger I felt desperate in life, but I took comfort from knowing someday I would be in a better place and write a song looking back on my life throwing back in time positive energy. I am now that person. This idea of a loop was inspired by Kate Bush's suite THE NINTH WAVE:
