A Christmas song -- Musically, this song starts off with a little “Disney flavor,” then as the song progresses, it moves into fairly straight ahead standard Christian beliefs about what Christmas means.

This is one of those “story songs,” the kind of story that almost everyone can relate to. We all make a few wrong turns in life -- I believe God always knows how to help us get back on the right path, if we just let Him.

I immediately loved the words to this love song (imho, words are like a cross between intimate sweetness and sacred compassion). But I didn't like the music for these lyrics, so I wrote new music.

Since no one knows first hand (experientially) what Heaven will be like, when we try to describe what we think Heaven will be like, we say, "What's the best thing you can think of -- well, it's like that, only much better."

A praise song about our Heavenly Father.

I received a phone call while I was at work. As I answered the phone, I could hear someone on the other end, but he was so emotional, I couldn't understand what he was saying, or who it was. After a moment of trying to console this person, I could tell it was my brother-in-law, as he composed himself enough to say, "He's gone, James is gone!" James was his son, my nephew and my son's best friend. James had a dynamic personality and was only 28 when a head-on collision with another car took his life... I couldn't stop asking, "Why?" I wrote this song for the service, but I was way too emotional to sing it. This recording of Tim Buppert's vocals & production was played.

When my mother passed away, I was guilt stricken for so many things I put her through while living under her roof. She raised my siblings and me (4 all total), while my father was mostly on the road - he was a traveling salesman. One of her constant come-back lines whenever I would challenge one of her directives was, "'Cause I said so." No matter what I would ask, i.e. "Why do I have to be home by 6:00 pm?" she would follow with, "'Cause I said so." I guess there's some truth to the adage, "What goes around, comes around," as I have raised 2 sons; I get it. But, I totally hated that response as a kid! She also had a very strong faith, which plays into this song...

From wishing I was dead to thanking God that I'm alive... I thank God Who was fully expressed and represented in the person of Jesus Christ.
